REAL Rally entries zoom past the magical 50!

The 2018 REAL Rally, in partnership with AutoRaise, promises to be an amazing event this year, with 55 confirmed team entries already on the official Starting Grid.
With the last two years successful rallys in separate areas of northern Europe under their belt, the REAL Rally shall this year be remaining on dry land and taking to the breath-taking backdrop of Snowdonia in north Wales. And that has clearly that provided an attraction for the unprecedented level of interest this year.

"I guess that staying in the UK has been seen as an easier option for all of these new teams and it certainly provides some food for thought for future REAL Rally locations" says Bob Linwood, organiser of the REAL Rally.

The REAL Rally is clearly turning in to a major Vehicle Repair industry event. With over 50 of the cars coming from the industry, it promises to be a significant fundraiser for the AutoRaise Charity too. If a Rally entrant is from the Vehicle Repair industry, they are raising money for AutoRaise. If they are a family friend, they are raising money for REAL - The Ethan Rees Linwood Memorial Fund.

And some significant money will certainly be raised! Last year’s top money earner was the Porsche Budgeteers, run by Steve Thompson of Connected Solutions/Industry Insights, who raised a whopping £6,350 on their own. This year, a number of Connected Solutions partner companies have entered and Steve has accepted the gauntlet laid down by Bob to try and collectively raise over £25,000 on their own.

The Rally leaves the Starting Grid at Telford Hotel and Golf Resort in the early hours of Wednesday 27th June, taking in stops at the National White Water Centre and Zipworld, site of the world’s longest zip wire (and yes, most of the contestants are signing up to have a go!). This beautifully scenic journey will see the contestants arrive at the iconic Italian-designed village of Portmeirion where the cult series The Prisoner was filmed.

The REAL Rally has taken over the whole village for the night and an evening of live music, entertainment, karaoke, disco and (weather permitting) some outdoor games will accompany the Rally barbecue in the grounds of the Castle at the top of the village.

The following morning will start with a 55-car procession through the village itself before heading off to Anglesey Race Circuit for lunch and a few laps around this famous track with beautiful views back over the Irish Sea towards Snowdonia.

The Rally heads to Chester for its final evening and coincidentally, the chance to watch England play Belgium in the final group stage match of the World Cup. On both evenings there will be some award presentations - some coveted and some not!! - and no doubt a lot of banter too. The REAL Rally officially ends after breakfast on the morning of Friday 29th June, with all teams heading back to their respective homes for another year.

Don’t forget to follow the REAL Rally build-up on Facebook and Twitter and please support us by donating to the team of your choice.

There will also be some sponsorship opportunities for those who want to raise their profile and be part of this extraordinary event. Please contact organiser Bob Linwood - bob@realforethan.co.uk
